Types of Psychic Abilities

Also known as the Five Big C's of psychic development, these are the major types of psychic abilities you can develop with some practise. Chances are you've already had some psychic experiences of your own using these abilities without even realising it!

1. Clairvoyance is the ability to psychically see events and pictures in your mind's eye, and the word clairvoyance derives from the French word for clear-seeing. Close your eyes now and visualise your bedroom at home. Notice as many details as you can. You are practising clairvoyance by seeing with your mind's eye (or third eye as it's sometimes called) and not your physical eye.

2. Clairsentience means clear-feeling and this psychic ability is located at your solar-plexus, the area behind your belly button. This is where you get your gut instincts or sensations which warn you of possible danger ahead or to stay away from a particular person. Clairsentience is simply your gut instinct on any topic, and if you get a good or bad feeling about something or someone when you think about it.

3. Clairaudience means clear-hearing and refers to your ability to hear a spirit's name when giving a reading. In fact, any time you are using your psychic-hearing faculties you are practising clairaudience. When tuning into someone, you might 'hear' a dog barking, indicating that they have a dog or are surrounded by one. Clairaudience is your inner-hearing ability and where you psychically hear voices in your mind.

4. Clairalience means clear-smelling and this most frequently occurs when people 'smell' smoke when no-one is actually standing nearby and smoking. Smelling tobacco is really common when a person in Spirit who was a smoker wants to make their presence known and therefore makes you psychically smell smoke to remind you of them. Other times you might smell flowers or perhaps a perfume when tuning in and using your clairalient abilities.

5. Clairgustance is the ability to psychically taste food. When you think of a favourite meal and your mouth waters, or if you think of someone and have an unusual taste in your mouth you are having a clairgustant experience. You might tune into an event and immediately experience a sour taste in your mouth, indicating that the future on that topic does not look particularly good!

Although the first three types of psychic abilities are the most common in life and when giving readings, they are all skills which you can practise and develop to a much higher level and gain more information on any topic you bring your mind to.
